and the two Texas teams as far as the NCAA tournament goes,
didn't I? It was certainly not an in-depth study- just some musings
based off the Austin (Texas) Bomber having attended Austin Community College (ACC)...
Finally took a look- and see that it's Loyola Chicago / Michigan
and Villanova / Kansas...
Looked real quick at Loyola... Most famous alumni by far imho
is Bob Newhart...
...getting up there in age. Thinking about his famous friendship with Don Rickles...
who kicked it around this same time a year ago...
"Newhart" = 89 and this next game for his school Loyola Chicago
comes a certain time span before his 89th birthday...
...22 weeks and 4 days (224)...
...his full name "George Robert Newhart" = 224...
He's currently 88 years old.
The Loyola team name, "Ramblers" = 88...
He's just finishing is 1062nd month (on 3/31 he's 1062 months and 26 days old)

we have two Catholic schools still in it...
I'd say Loyola Chicago vs Villanova

Oh, went back to my work on the Final Four a year ago to
see what number tournament this is... Think that would be easy to Google
but anyway...
this year is the 80th NCAA Tournament...

That's beautiful even if they don't make the final/win it...
they are obviously the cinderella / big story of the 80th tournament...
(no 80s on the other three teams)...

I missed to with Kentucky and TT, but like you said minimal research done, but based on the recent story lines there appeared to a narrative for the teams we chose.

87-88 Kansas won
97-98 Kentucky won
07-08 Kansas won
Both teams also wear blue/white.
Could be something here, I'll do some more research, if I find anything good I'll make a post.

see, i would've been huge on that had I seen it, but it should've been kentucky this year to keep up with the swapping turns... and see just because something like that doesn't hit it doesn't mean it's not something going on, like i said...
...i think everyone would agree Loyola was THEE story of the tournament... the 80th tournament and they have the 80s. that's insane.
finally looked at this march for our lives gun control nonsense and made a pretty big post on it.

ReplyDeletehey Lenny! yeah I've barely looked at it- but i think it's insane that the only team with any 80 on 'em of the final four teams was Loyola and this was the 80th tournament...
Deletei think it might've been a chicago/illinois thing connected to the valentine's day school shooting (famous valentine's day massacre happened in illinois back in '29) and the mcdonalds flipping their logo (HQ in illinois) but i don't know.
