Super Bowl teams & their first preseason games

Couldn't find a story to do a decode/post on, and so I decided
to play around with some NFL stuff... some preseason stuff,
looking at the SB teams and what they did in their first preseason
games the years they made the SB... Trying to find a prediction key!

I went back to 1999 and SB34.

So here's the format:

SEASON YEAR / YEAR SB IS PLAYED
SB NUMBER / MODERN ERA NUMBER
NFL SEASON
NFL DRAFT

SB WINNER and score  SB LOSER and score

FIRST PRESEASON GAME for each (FPG)

and then something I tried on a whim,
adding the season year, sb number, modern era number,
nfl season, and nfl draft together. This will be referred to as
"year numbers added together".

And I'll just note any connections, no matter how slim,
that I notice at a glance or two. So, let's go...

1999/00
34/30
80
64

Rams 23 Titans 16 (39, PD:7)

FIRST PRESEASON GAME
Rams 17 Raiders 18 (35, PD:1) 8/7/99

Titans 20 Chiefs 22 (42. PD:2) 8/15/99

99+34+30+80+64 = 307

The Rams first preseason score, plus the Titans first
preseason score = 37... all the year numbers added together
equals 307 (37)...

The Rams gave up 18 points in first preseason game,
18 is a 9 (1+8=9) and then they went on to score the 9th prime
in the SB (23)... And it was the '99 season.

They scored the 7th prime in first preseason game (17)
and gave up a 7 in the SB (16: 1+6=7)...

The total scores of both teams preseason games add to 77,
and then the point differential in the SB was 7...
and the SB number was a 7 (34: 3+4=7)...

It was the 80th NFL season and the Rams first preseason score
was an 8 (17: 1+7=8)... Also if you take both preseason game
total scores, add them, and then add both preseason point
differentials to that, you get 80...

It was the 30th SB of the modern era and the point differentials
of both preseason games (1 and 2) add to 3...

2000/01
35/31
81
65

Ravens 34 Giants 7 (41, PD:27)

FPG
Ravens 16 Eagles 13 (29, PD:3) 8/5/00

Giants 08 Bears 20 (28, PD:12) 8/5/00

+++++ = 212

The Ravens gave up 13 in the first preseason game,
and then the SB totaled to 41 (13th prime)... And it was
the 31st SB of modern era, 13 reversed.

The Ravens scored a 7 in first preseason game (16: 1+6=7)
and then gave up 7 points in the SB... AND scored a 7
(34: 3+4=7)...

The Giants scored 8 in first preseason game, and the SB number
was an 8 (35: 3+5=8)...

2001/02
36/32
82
66

Patriots 20 Rams 17 (37, PD:3)

FPG
Patriots 14 Giants 00 (14) 8/10/01

Rams 24 Bills 10 (34, PD: 14) 8/12/01

+++++ = 217

The SB score was a 217 (20-17) and all the year numbers
added together equals 217...

Both point differentials of the preseason games add to 28
and it was the 82nd NFL season... Plus, 8+2=10 (or 2+8)
and the Rams gave up 10 points in first preseason game...
AND the SB score reduced was a 28 (20: 2+0=2 :2, and 17: 1+7=8 :8  ::28)

2002/03
37/33
83
67

Buccaneers 48 Raiders 21 (69, PD:27)

FPG
Buccaneers 14 Dolphins 10 (24, PD:4) 8/12/02

Raiders 06 Cowboys 20 (26, PD: 14) 8/9/02

+++++ = 222

Not much here? It was the 33rd SB of modern era,
SB score reduced was a 33
(48: 4+8=12 12: 1+2=3 :3, and 21: 2+1=3 ::33)...
and 33 is a 6 (3+3=6) and the Buccs first preseason game,
reduced was a 6 multiple ways... and then the Raiders
scored 6 in their first preseason game...

2003/04
38/34
84
68

Patriots 32 Panthers 29 (61, PD:3)

FPG
Patriots 26 Giants 06 (32, PD:20) 8/7/03

Panthers 20 Redskins 00 (20) 8/9/03

+++++ = 227

The Patriots' first preseason game totaled to 32,
and then they scored 32 in the SB...

Reduced, their first preseason game was an 86
(26: 2+6=8 :8 and Giants scored 6 ::86)
and it was the NFL's 68th Draft (86/68)

2004/05
39/35
85
69

Patriots 24 Eagles 21 (45, PD:3)

FPG
Patriots 24 Eagles 06 (30, PD:18) 8/13/04

+++++ = 232

The SB teams played each other in their first preseason game...
The Patriots scored 24 then and again in the SB...

The preseason game totaled to 30 (a 3) and the point differential
was 18 (a 9)... or 39... and it was SB39

AND the point differential in the SB was 3, and as we said,
in the preseason it was a 9... so another 39...

ALSO corresponding via the SB total score- that was a 45 (a 9)
and the total score in the preseason was 30 (a 3)... so 93/39...

2005/06
40/36
86
70

Steelers 21 Seahawks 10 (31, PD:11)

FPG
Steelers 38 Eagles 31 (69, PD:7) 8/15/05

Seahawks 34 Saints 15 (49, PD:19) 8/12/05

+++++ = 237

SB totaled to 31, the 11th prime, and the differential was 11,
and the Steelers scored an 11 (38: 3+8=11) in the preseason,
and gave up the 11th prime (31)...

2006/07
41/37
87
71

Colts 29 Bears 17 (46, PD:12)

FPG
Colts 17 Rams 19 (36, PD:2) 8/10/06

Bears 14 49ers 28 (42, PD:14) 8/1106

+++++ = 242

The Colts scored 17 in their first preseason game,
and then gave up 17 in the SB... and it was the 71st Draft
17/71...

The Colts first preseason game score was the 7th prime (17)
to the 8th prime (19)... or 78... it was the 87th NFL season 78/87...
Also both preseason game total scores added together = 78

The Bears scored 14 in their first preseason game, and the differential
was 14, and then went on to be in SB41
14/41...

It was the 12th prime SB of modern era (37) and the SB
point differential was 12, and the difference between the two
preseason game point differentials was 12...

The Colts' preseason game total score was a 9 (36)
and the differential was 2, or 92/29 and they scored 29 in the SB...

2007/08
42/38
88
72

Giants 17 Patriots 14 (31, PD:3)

FPG
Giants 21 Panthers 24 (45, PD:3) 8/11/07

Patriots 10 Buccaneers 13 (23, PD:3) 8/10/07

+++++ = 247

Was this a 9/11 code? The point differential in both
preseason games was 3, and in the SB it was 3...
or three 3s... or 9... and also both preseason total scores
relate to 9: Patriots' 23, that's the 9th prime, and Giants' 45
(4+5=9)... Also it was 72nd NFL Draft (7+2=9)
So a lot of 9s and then...

...the SB totaled to 31, the 11th prime.
Also it was 38th SB of modern era and that's an 11 (3+8=11).
OH, plus, the Giants' preseason score plus the Patriots'
equals 31, the 11th prime...

Other than that, the Patriots' preseason score reduced
was a 14 (10: 1+0=1 :1, and 13: 1+3=4 :4 ::14), and then
they scored 14 in the SB...

2008/09
43/39
89
73

Steelers 27 Cardinals 23 (50, PD:4)

FPG
Steelers 16 Eagles 10 (26, PD:6) 8/8/08

Cardinals 10 Saints 24 (34, PD:14) 8/7/08

+++++ = 252

The Cardinals gave up 24 points in their first preseason game,
and it was the 89th NFL season (24th prime)...

The Steelers gave up 10 points in their preseason game,
the Cardinals scored 10 points in their preseason game,
and then they met in SB39 ("ten" = 39)...

The point differential of the Cardinals' preseason game was
14 and they went on to SB43 (14th prime)...
the preseason game also totaled 34.. 43/34...

2009/10
44/40
90
74

Saints 31 Colts 17 (48, PD:14)

FPG
Saints 17 Bengals 07 (24, PD:10) 8/14/09

Colts 3 Vikings 13 (16, PD:10) 8/14/09

+++++ = 257

Lots of primes here. ALL scores in both preseason games
were prime, and both scores in the SB were prime...
and adding all the year numbers together is also prime.

Saints scored 17 in preseason, the 7th prime, and gave up 7...
and then also gave up 7 in the SB...

The Colts gave up 13 in the preseason and then 31 in the SB
13/31...

The Saints preseason score was the 7th prime (17)
to the 4th prime (7)... or 74... and it was the 74th NFL Draft...

Both SB teams' preseason scores added together (17+3)
equal 20... and then adding both preseason point differentials (10+10) to that,
you get 40... it was the 40th SB of modern era.

2010/11
45/41
91
75

Packers 31 Steelers 25 (56, PD:6)

FPG
Packers 24 Browns 27 (51, PD:3) 8/14/10

Steelers 23 Lions 07 (30, PD:16) 8/14/10

+++++ = 262

Both SB teams' preseason scores added together (24+23)
equal 47... and then SB score reduced was a 47
(31: 3+1=4 :4, and 25: 2+5=7 :7 ::47)...

Both SB teams' preseason scores reduced,
the Steelers' (23: 2+3=5 :5) and the Packers' (24: 2+4=6 :6)
was a 56... and the SB totaled to 56...

The Steelers' preseason game score reduced was a 57
(23: 2+3=5 :5, and 7 ::57) and it was the 75th Draft
57/75...

2011/12
46/42
92
76

Giants 21 Patriots 17 (38, PD:4)

FPG
Giants 10 Panthers 20 (30, PD:10) 8/13/11

Patriots 47 Jaguars 12 (59, PD:35) 8/11/11

+++++ = 267

The Patriots' first preseason game totaled to 59,
the 17th prime, and then they scored 17 in the SB...

The Giants scored 10 in their preseason game,
the 10th prime is 29, and it was the 92nd NFL season
29/92...

The Patriots scored 30 less points in the SB than they
did in the preseason, and the Giants' preseason game
totaled to 30...

The year numbers added together reduce to 15
(267: 2+6+7=15) and the Patriots scored the 15th prime
in their preseason game (47)...

The Giants scored 11 more in the SB than they did in the preseason,
and the Patriots gave up 9 more in the SB than in the preseason,
another 9/11 thing like their previous SB meeting?

2012/13
47/43
93
77

Ravens 34  49ers 31 (65, PD:3)

FPG
Ravens 31 Falcons 17 (48, PD:14) 8/9/12

49ers 17 Vikings 06 (23, PD:11) 8/10/12

+++++ = 272

The Ravens scored 31 in the preseason and then
gave up 31 in the SB... 31 is the 11th prime and the year
numbers added together reduced is an 11
(272: 2+7+2=11)

They gave up 17 in the preseason and the 49ers scored
17 in the preseason...

The Raven's preseason game's point differential was 14
and they went on to the 43rd SB of modern era (14th prime)...

Both SB teams preseason scores, added together = 48, and
the Ravens' preseason game totaled to 48...

The scores both SB teams gave up in the preseason games add to 23, and
the 49ers' preseason game totaled to 23...

23 + 48 = 71 and the 49ers scored 17 in the preseason, and the Ravens gave up 17
in the preseason... 71/17...

2013/14
48/44
94
78

Seahawks 43 Broncos 08 (51, PD:35)

FPG
Seahawks 31 Chargers 10 (41, PD:21) 8/8/13

Broncos 10  49ers 06 (16, PD:4) 8/8/13

+++++ = 277

The Seahawks gave up 10 in the preseason
and the Broncos scored 10...

AND OH, two years in a row, this same symmetry:
Both SB teams' preseason scores added together is 41
and the the Seahawks' preseason game totaled to 41, and...
The scores both SB teams gave up in the preseason add to 16, and
the Broncos' preseason game totaled to 16...

And then nothing to do with the preseason but, the SB scores
reduced are a 78 (43: 4+3=7 :7, and 8 ::78), and it was
the 78th NFL Draft...

2014/15
49/45
95
79

Patriots 28 Seahawks 24 (52, PD:4)

FPG
Patriots 06 Redskins 23 (29, PD:17) 8/7/14

Seahawks 16 Broncos 21 (37, PD:5) 8/7/14

+++++ = 282

A convoluted 28 thing. The year numbers added together are 282
(28)... the Patriots scored 28 in the SB, and the Patriots' preseason
game has a 28: the total score was the 10th prime, and the
point differential was the 7th prime, or 10/7 aka 107,
aka the 28th prime.

The SB scores reduced are a 16
(28: 2+8=10: 1+0=1 :1, and 24: 2+4=6 :6 ::16)
and the Seahawks scored 16 in the preseason game.

The SB teams' scores in the preseason added together
are 22 (6+16) and it was the 79th Draft (22nd prime)...
Oh, and both preseason point differentials added together
are 22 (17+5)...

2015/16
50/46

Broncos 24 Panthers 10 (34, PD:14)

FPG
Broncos 22 Seahawks 20 (42, PD:2) 8/14/15

Panthers 25 Bills 24 (49, PD:1) 8/14/15

+++++ = 287

The Panthers gave up 24 in the preseason, and then
again in the SB... and the Broncos' preseason game
totaled to 42... 24/42...

2016/17
51/47
97
81

Patriots 34 Falcons 28 OT (62, PD:6)

FPG
Patriots 34 Saints 22 (56, PD:12) 8/11/16

Falcons 23 Redskins 17 (40, PD:6) 8/11/16

+++++ = 292

The Patriots scored 34 in the preseason, and then
again in the SB... **note the previous season the SB loser
gave up the same in preseason and in SB*

The Falcons scored the 9th prime in the preseason (23)
and gave up the 7th (17), or 97... and it was the 97th NFL season
(shout out to Stay Woke Sports for also finding this)...

The Patriots' preseason game score reduced is a 74
(34: 3+4=7 :7, and 22: 2+2=4 :4 ::74)
and it was the 47th SB of modern era ... 74/47...

The Patriots score in the preseason, plus the score the Falcons
gave up in the preseason, equals 51 and it was SB51...

2017/18
52/48
98
82

Eagles 41 Patriots 33 (74, PD:8)

FPG
Eagles 09 Packers 24 (33, PD:15) 8/10/17

Patriots 24 Jaguars 31 (55, PD:7) 8/10/17

+++++ = 297

The Eagles gave up 24 in the preseason,
the Patriots scored 24, 24+24=48, they went on to meet
in the 48th SB of modern era...

The Eagles' preseason game totaled to 33,
both SB teams' preseason scores added together = 33,
and the Patriots went on to score 33 in the SB...

The difference in the SB teams' preseason scores was 15,
15th prime is 47, and the SB totaled to 74... 47/74...

Shout out to Stay Woke Sports for this one:
the Patriots' preseason game totaled to 55
and they went on the lose the SB and become 5-5 (55) in SBs...

Addition to that- the scores both SB teams gave up in the
preseason, added together = 55 (24+31)...

The Patriots gave up 31 in the preseason, and then gave up
the 13th prime in the SB (41)... 31/13...

The Eagles scored 9 in the preseason, and then won the SB by 8,
or 98... it was the 98th NFL season...

The Eagles scored 9 in the preseason, the Patriots scored
9 more in the SB than they did in the preseason...

What does it mean for SB53...

2018/19
53/49
99
83

+++++ = 302

Well I certainly don't find any pattern in this data to
feel like I could use anything in a team's first preseason game
to predict anything to do with the SB... However there is a ton
of info I didn't consider- SB records, gematria values, NFC/AFC
SB records/number of wins, individual teams' season numbers... etc.

I don't know.

Any requests for news stories, old sports stories maybe,
ever wonder what the numbers were like on Barry Bonds
breaking the home run record or anything like that?
Anything at all? Let me know!

Cheers!

    1. Hey Jedd, thanks for the comments! I agree Houston is a strong sleeper... they hosted the SB in the '17 season and now this is their 17th season... I'm liking teams in prime numbered seasons this year- the year of a prime numbered SB...

      that's also another good reason to not be so hot on New England... of their 10 SBs... ONLY ONE was a prime numbered SB... (SB31) and that was before the Brady/Belichick era. So... but I don't know.

      Thanks again man!
      Cheers!

    2. Texans first season was 2002. 2+2=4. Watson wears 4. Maybe texans are a sb team in 2020?

      Delete
    3. or maybe 2023, their 22nd season? Or maybe 2022 (222) and be reigning champs as their 22nd season begins...

      but Houston seems hot right now after that hurricane- Houston Rockets one game away from finals... Astros won world series... I don't know.

      Delete
    4. I definitely could see rockets winning one soon. Either this year or next year possibly. Texans in 3-5 years mayne. It's hard to say. Patriots are in a terrible division. I can't see them missing plAyoffs unless brady gets hurt. Or darnold or bridgewater have career years and lead jets to playoffs. Or heck josh allen may be a stud. Who knows lmao.

    5. Ha, yeah, I kinda got either McCarron or however you spell it, or Allen having a huge year for the Bills because they are actually my favorite for the AFC, lol. Well, really they are 1A and the Ravens are 1B...

      also like the Dolphins for two weird reasons- they tend to make prime SBs, and a trilogy match up with the Redskins...

      and then the Jets... man the Jets are due. Or maybe they just never make another SB. Maybe the deal was they were the first AFL team to win one and that's it... But them, KC, and MIN have insanely long SB droughts and droughts have been busting lately so...

    1. Pretty soon I'd say... There's been a trend of teams that have never won a championship/SB winning it lately... Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Cavs, Philadelphia Eagles... and if you go back just a little bit- the Seahawks... and others.

      So, plus this is a 9 heavy year/season...
      9s make me think CATS... Would not be surprised AT ALL if a CAT TEAM wins it this year. and almost all of them are viable- the Bengals would be the most surprising- but not to me.

      my hunch right now is next year, SB54: Lions vs Colts.

  6. I think if certain players or coaches born in zodiac year. Good.chance that team wins or does good. Astros won ws last season. Mccullers pitched game 7. He was born rooster year. Last year was rooster year.Also eagles were wearing dog masks throughout playoffs. Like the underdogs. Year of the dog this year. Also eagles were found in 1933. 1933 is a rooster year. 2017 season is rooster year. I believe 2/4 was before dog year started.
    It was 85th year for eagles. Philadelphia eagle=85 also 1933 33+19=52. Eagles won sb 52. Nick foles= 58,33. Carson wentz=85

    1. I don't get into the astrology and more occult type of stuff and research that much myself, but there can be some compelling reasons to I suppose. But I try and stay to the absolute rawest basic pure fact data I can- to simply show that something is going on that is way beyond coincidence.

      but Eagles wearing them dog masks was very weird- now they are reigning champs in the year of the dog...

      makes me think of cleveland browns, dog pound...
      i think they make the playoffs this year, or at the very least have a winning record.
